I first learnt this style of hot chocolate at Jamie Oliver’s. The genius of combining malted drink powder and chocolate, alongside the cornflour to give that proper thick, tongue-coating texture – there is no other way to do it! Mix all of your ingredients together and store them in an air-tight jar. This will create a delicious ready-made chocolate drinking mix that you can delve into whenever.
You need around 2 heaped tablespoons of chocolate mix for every 350ml mug of milk. Whisk together in a pan and leave to simmer and steam for a few minutes before serving. If you want to take it up a level, why not dollop some dulce de leche in your mug and pour the hot chocolate mix over the top. Finish with whipped cream and grated chocolate.
