Here it goes. My first blog post.
I have enjoyed the thrill of storytelling since I was a child. I would write short fables about courageous garden gnomes or talking dogs with a penchant for pizza and gift them to friends and family members (with a suggested tip of 20p). But as my career ventured into the shorthand world of social media, my default was not for lengthy dialogues and descriptive narratives but rather for 140 character limits. So to satisfy my own curiosities and to really, truly elaborate on what happens in the world of Katie Pix, I’ve started blogging!
As an avid diary writer, I feel comforted by scrawling my thoughts and feelings on a page, but am I prepared for it to be so public? I can’t promise that I won’t overshare, that I won’t be opinionated or talk about my dogs just a little too much. I can’t promise to have the wildest of experiences, the most whimsical way with words or be the next J.K. Rowling. But, I can promise honesty, an attempt to ‘entertain’ and a little bit more insight into ‘who the bloomin’eck is Katie Pix?’.
The process of blogging can be very reflective – as is human nature. We frequently lose ourselves in ‘what we were’ and ‘hope to be’ without looking at the here and now. When I started this particular post, I thought I would reflect on 2017 – the year of monumental change, saying hello to a new career and goodbye to my gorgeous Grandpa Rog – but what about now?
Now, I am healthy. I am hard-working. I am in love. I am appreciative. I am scared. I am happy. I am ready.
Everything begins from this moment.
