Ingredients

  • shop-bought filo pastry
  • bananas
  • Carnation Caramel
  • Chinese Five Spice
  • sunflower oil

Cut a sheet of filo pastry in half.

Spread a dollop of Carnation Caramel at the bottom centre of your filo so it is the width of half a banana and double the depth. Sprinkle with a pinch of Chinese Five Spice and place half a banana on top – the length of your banana should line up with the bottom centre edge of your filo pastry.

Do one full roll up so your banana is encased in filo pastry. Fold each side of your filo into the centre so it overlaps the banana. Continue to roll up so you create a tight spring roll. Seal the end with a little bit of water.

Fill a frying pan with 1cm of neutral oil. You’re going to shallow fry your spring rolls. Place your banana spring roll into the pan, seam side down. Give it a minute to turn golden and then flip and cook for a minute on the other side.

Remove and drain on kitchen roll to remove excess oil. Tuck in and you’ll be singing with delight!
