Baked Doughnuts

These stunning homemade galaxy doughnuts are out of this world - a fun way to jazz up any party or bake sale.

Ingredients

  • 100ml buttermilk
  • 120g plain flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 50g sugar
  • 1 heaped tbsp honey
  • 50g melted unsalted butter
  • 1 egg
  • ¼tsp grated nutmeg
  • ½tsp vanilla extract
  • 5 tbsp whipping cream
  • 200g icing sugar
  • ½tsp vanilla extract
  • food colouring

  • 100ml buttermilk⁣⁣
  • 120g plain flour⁣⁣
  • 1 tsp baking powder ⁣⁣
  • 1/4 tsp salt⁣⁣
  • 50g sugar⁣⁣
  • 1 heaped tbsp honey⁣⁣
  • 50g melted unsalted butter ⁣⁣
  • 1 egg⁣⁣
  • 1/4 tsp grated nutmeg⁣⁣
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract⁣⁣

Combine all of your ingredients in a bowl. You’ll be left with a loose batter. Decant into a piping bag and pipe into a doughnut tin (about a third of the way full). ⁣⁣

Pop into a preheated oven at 170°C for 11-14 minutes. Once they are golden brown and spring back to the touch, they’re done! Leave to cool and prepare your icing. ⁣⁣

  • 5 tbsp whipping cream ⁣⁣
  • 200g icing sugar⁣⁣
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract⁣⁣

Mix the ingredients together until smooth, divide between 4 bowls and colour them red, blue, purple and white. Pop it back into one large bowl and marble the colours together. It should be of a soft buttercream consistency – add more icing sugar to stiffen if required.
